Clinicom Joins Forces with the UN to Launch the World’s Largest Mental Health Study of 1 Million People

We are excited to share that Clinicom has been named a Founding Member of the Global Mental Health Taskforce for the United Nations, supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being. This prestigious honor places Clinicom at the forefront of a global mission to improve mental health care, promote equity, and address disparities on an unprecedented scale.

Our first initiative with the taskforce? Conducting the world’s largest mental health study ever conducted, assessing 1 million people across the United States.

This groundbreaking study will generate historic data on mental health conditions, comorbidities, and treatment outcomes, shining a light on key areas that have never been explored on this scale. In collaboration with the American Psychiatric Association and several influential partners, this research will transform how mental health policy, funding, and clinical care are approached nationally and globally.

Why This Study is Historic: The Power of 1 Million Assessments

No mental health study of this magnitude has ever been done. Traditional studies often rely on surveys or limited clinical data, leaving gaps in understanding how mental health conditions develop, interact, and vary across different demographics and social factors.

With Clinicom’s adaptive clinical assessment technology, we can assess 81 DSM conditions dynamically and uncover hidden comorbidities and social determinants of health. The ability to collect precise clinical data from a large, diverse population will provide a depth of insight previously unavailable.

Key research questions the study aims to answer include:

  • What are the most common mental health conditions in different regions, socioeconomic groups, and demographics across the U.S.?
  • How do factors such as housing, education, and access to resources affect mental health outcomes?
  • What previously under-recognized comorbidities exist, and how do they impact treatment outcomes?
  • What early-warning indicators can help prevent future mental health crises?

The results of this study will be a game-changer in driving evidence-based policy changes and guiding clinical decisions worldwide.

How This Study Could Influence National and Global Policy

With data from 1 million people, the findings will provide the scientific validation policymakers need to support large-scale investments in mental health care. Here are some key areas where we expect the data to make an impact:

1. Increased National Funding for Mental Health Services

Governments often face pressure to prioritize other areas of healthcare, but this study could highlight the economic and societal costs of untreated mental health issues, making the case for greater funding. The data could help show how preventive mental health programs can reduce long-term healthcare costs and improve public health outcomes.

2. Better Integration of Mental and Physical Health Care

The study will provide evidence showing how mental health conditions affect physical health outcomes, such as chronic illness and disability. This could push policymakers and healthcare organizations to adopt integrated care models, where mental and physical health services are delivered together.

3. Targeted Efforts to Close Gaps in Access

By identifying disparities in mental health outcomes based on race, income, gender, and location, the study will help policymakers design equity-focused interventions. This could lead to the expansion of community mental health programs, telehealth services, and mobile mental health clinics in underserved areas.

4. Global Standardization of Mental Health Care

The U.N.’s Global Mental Health Taskforce can use this data to promote international standards for mental health screening and treatment access. By demonstrating what works on a large scale, this study could influence mental health policies in countries around the world.

Their unwavering support in promoting equity and access is helping to make this historic study a reality.

Clinicom’s Role: Innovation at the Core of the Study

At the center of this initiative is Clinicom’s proprietary assessment platform, which enables rapid and adaptive mental health assessments on a large scale. Unlike traditional methods, which often rely on static questionnaires or self-reported symptoms, Clinicom’s system dynamically tailors assessments based on patient responses, ensuring clinical precision and comprehensive data collection.

Additionally, Clinicom’s advanced analytics capabilities will allow researchers to track patient outcomes over time and identify long-term patterns that could inform future preventive care and treatment guidelines. This combination of large-scale data collection and adaptive intelligence positions Clinicom as a key driver of the study’s success.

A Global Call to Action: Join Us in This Historic Mission

This study is not just about gathering data—it is about transforming mental health care and saving lives. Mental health disorders are among the leading causes of disability worldwide, yet many people lack access to the care they need. By generating actionable insights on a national and global level, this initiative will help shape the future of mental health care.

As Ignacio Handal, CEO of Clinicom, said:

“This is a tremendous honor and responsibility that we take very seriously. But we can’t do it alone. We are calling on fellow entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and mental health advocates to help us reach this goal. Together, we can make a deep impact on 1 million lives and beyond.”

We welcome support through Donor-Advised Funds (DAF) and Charitable Aid Funds (CAF), both of which are tax-deductible and essential to helping us achieve our mission.

Let’s Make History Together

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create meaningful change and contribute to the world’s largest mental health study. Together, we can pave the way for a future where mental health is prioritized and accessible to all.
